In mid-May they had four chicks.\u00c2\u00a0 I visited the swimming fur-balls within days of their hatching, but, even by then, there were only three.\u00c2\u00a0 Most likely the first &#8220;swanling&#8221; (cygnet) to go missing was the victim of other animals.\u00c2\u00a0 Swan caretakers say that the tiny creature may have become a meal for a snapping turtle, big-mouth bass or owl.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright wp-image-1067\" src=\"http:\/\/stacy.awegallery.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/July-1-swan-chick-copy.jpg\" alt=\"July 1 - swan chick copy\" width=\"423\" height=\"282\" srcset=\"http:\/\/stacy.awegallery.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/July-1-swan-chick-copy.jpg 500w, http:\/\/stacy.awegallery.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/July-1-swan-chick-copy-300x200.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 423px) 100vw, 423px\" \/>Last week just one swanling, now a hardy juvenile, was still swimming with its parents.\u00c2\u00a0 Volunteers on the palace grounds say that, while the disappearance of the chicks was sad, the young ones would probably have been killed by their father come mating time.\u00c2\u00a0 Despite all this drama, the beauty and lure of the swans are still very empowering.<\/p>\n<p>Swans represent grace and beauty on many levels. They are associated with love, poetry and music. In Roman mythology swans are sacred to Venus, the love goddess; in the Greek tradition they are often pictured singing to the accompaniment of a lyre.\u00c2\u00a0 For the Celtic people, the swan represented the soul, our eternal essence.<\/p>\n<p>Swan\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s Wisdom includes awakening the power of self, balance, grace, and creative inner beauty.\u00c2\u00a0 She offers this wisdom to us all!<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_1068\" style=\"width: 810px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1068\" class=\"wp-image-1068 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/stacy.awegallery.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/July-1-swanride.jpg\" alt=\"Taking a ride on mama-swan!\" width=\"800\" height=\"518\" srcset=\"http:\/\/stacy.awegallery.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/July-1-swanride.jpg 800w, http:\/\/stacy.awegallery.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/July-1-swanride-300x194.jpg 300w, http:\/\/stacy.awegallery.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/July-1-swanride-768x497.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-1068\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Taking a ride on mama-swan!<\/p><\/div>\n<p><strong><em>The Ugly Duckling<\/em><\/strong> is a widely-known children&#8217;s story about an obviously odd little duckling. This \u00e2\u20ac\u0153ugly duckling\u00e2\u20ac\u009d doesn\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t look like her brothers and sisters and is rejected and labeled a misfit. In the end, however, all are surprised when she grows into being the most elegant of birds, the swan. When we appropriate this grace, we are able to see and nurture the inner beauty in others. The grace of Swan-Wisdom helps us live a balanced life and enables us to be at home on many planes of reality, to see that we each are more than we appear to be \u00e2\u20ac\u201c we are equally physical and spiritual beings.
