{"id":219,"date":"2011-09-12T04:07:01","date_gmt":"2011-09-12T04:07:01","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/stacy.awegallery.com\/?p=219"},"modified":"2013-04-24T23:56:26","modified_gmt":"2013-04-24T23:56:26","slug":"september-week-1","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/stacy.awegallery.com\/?p=219","title":{"rendered":"September week 1"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/stacy.awegallery.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/09\/Sept1-RoseDetail.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-220\" title=\"Sept1-RoseDetail\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/stacy.awegallery.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/09\/Sept1-RoseDetail.jpg\" width=\"333\" height=\"500\" srcset=\"http:\/\/stacy.awegallery.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/09\/Sept1-RoseDetail.jpg 333w, http:\/\/stacy.awegallery.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/09\/Sept1-RoseDetail-199x300.jpg 199w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 333px) 100vw, 333px\" \/><\/a>Since I knew I would be posting my weekly images on 9\/11 I set out to photograph a rose.\u00c2\u00a0 The rose in many cultures is a sign of the Divine and used for love and remembrance.\u00c2\u00a0 All those things are important this day.\u00c2\u00a0 Since the mornings in San Francisco have still started out in fog the diffused light is perfect for flower portraits.<\/p>\n<p>The rose season in Golden Gate Park is all but over, yet a few blooms continue.\u00c2\u00a0 The water drops from the fog (or the sprinklers) were beading up on the center petals of the yellow roses I stopped to smell.\u00c2\u00a0 When viewed up close they gave the impression of tear drops.\u00c2\u00a0 So I wanted to add a soft feel to bring out that emotion.<\/p>\n<p>I started out taking full buds and roses and then moved in to capture the curves and texture of the petals.\u00c2\u00a0 I used a 100 mm lens at a wide open aperture (f\/2.8) to render a very shallow depth of field.\u00c2\u00a0 Most of the petals quickly go out of focus.\u00c2\u00a0 The whole feel for me seemed to convey the words of a prayer I reviewed the day before, anticipating it\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s use in a 9\/11 remembrance at herchurch this morning.\u00c2\u00a0 It is a prayer for peace:<\/p>\n<p><em><a href=\"http:\/\/stacy.awegallery.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/09\/Sept1-Rose-web.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-221\" title=\"Sept1-Rose web\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/stacy.awegallery.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/09\/Sept1-Rose-web-199x300.jpg\" width=\"199\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"http:\/\/stacy.awegallery.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/09\/Sept1-Rose-web-199x300.jpg 199w, http:\/\/stacy.awegallery.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/09\/Sept1-Rose-web.jpg 333w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 199px) 100vw, 199px\" \/><\/a>\u00e2\u20ac\u0153Compassionate and merciful Divinity of many names,\u00c2\u00a0 Holy One, Allah, Yahweh, Wisdom-Sophia, Goddess, God of All, Providence,<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>We pause and remember in honor of 9\/11 as we reflect on and work for peace. We gather with your people through the ages who have turned swords into plowshares that peace may be harvested.\u00e2\u20ac\u009d<\/em><\/p>\n<p>\u00c2\u00a9 Diann L.
