Grapes1 web\" src=\"http:\/\/stacy.awegallery.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/10\/October-1-Grapes1-web.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"344\" height=\"500\" srcset=\"http:\/\/stacy.awegallery.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/10\/October-1-Grapes1-web.jpg 344w, http:\/\/stacy.awegallery.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/10\/October-1-Grapes1-web-206x300.jpg 206w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 344px) 100vw, 344px\" \/><\/a>In the art of wine-tasting there are basically six steps: use your sense of sight, then swirl, sniff, sip, spit and finally drive home safely.\u00c2\u00a0 Just as there is an art to tasting the fermented juices, there\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s an art to seeing subjects on and around the grapevine.\u00c2\u00a0 In capturing the art on the vine with your camera, the possibilities are endless.\u00c2\u00a0 But there are six invaluable techniques that can be remembered easily with the acronym <strong>GRAPES<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">G<\/span><\/strong>et in close<\/li>\n<li><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">R<\/span><\/strong>eflectors<\/li>\n<li><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">A<\/span><\/strong>perture<\/li>\n<li><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">P<\/span><\/strong>olarize<\/li>\n<li><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">E<\/span><\/strong>xposure<\/li>\n<li><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">S<\/span><\/strong>pritz<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>I don\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t always apply all of these techniques.\u00c2\u00a0 Sometimes the clumps look best with a little bit of water and sometimes not (Spritz).\u00c2\u00a0 Regardless you always want to pay close attention to the use of light and choosing your composition!\u00c2\u00a0 Last week the first rains came early to the Napa and Sonoma Valleys causing some vineyards to be harvest earlier than planned.\u00c2\u00a0 Too much rain can bring mildew to the vines.\u00c2\u00a0 But the water drops in your image can help with your focus and give life to your shot!<\/p>\n<p>Although harvesting begins in August for some grapes I enjoy the last crushing because the leaves are more colorful in October into November.\u00c2\u00a0 Even after the harvesting you can find clumps of grapes here and there and your presence in the vineyards isn\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t as intrusive or treating to the vines and growers.\u00c2\u00a0 The grapes that remain longer on the vine gives them a higher sugar content needed for certain kinds of wines.<\/p>\n<p>My morning in the vineyards was on a cloudy day which provided a wonderful defused which pops the color and prevents hot spots in your backgrounds!\u00c2\u00a0 I would have like to photograph all day but it began to rain so that forced me to enjoy the fine art photo galleries at <a title=\"muum napa\" href=\"http:\/\/mummnapa.com\/visitmummnapa\/galleryExihibitInformation\" target=\"_blank\">Mumm\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s Winery<\/a> on Silverado Trail and a glass of sparkling wine.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/stacy.awegallery.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/10\/October-1-MarinaSF-web.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-245\" title=\"October 1 -
