{"id":480,"date":"2012-09-04T03:16:30","date_gmt":"2012-09-04T03:16:30","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/stacy.awegallery.com\/?p=480"},"modified":"2012-09-05T18:34:38","modified_gmt":"2012-09-05T18:34:38","slug":"august-week-4-water-living-water","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/stacy.awegallery.com\/?p=480","title":{"rendered":"August week 4 &#8211; Water, Living Water!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In some parts of the country people would love to be playing in the fountains because it is scorching and other places dried up fountains would be preferred to those six feet under water.\u00c2\u00a0 For the peoples of these places we wish health and healing, relief and restoration.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/stacy.awegallery.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/09\/Aug-wk-4-Fount03-copy.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft  wp-image-481\" title=\"Aug wk 4 - Fount03 copy\" src=\"http:\/\/stacy.awegallery.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/09\/Aug-wk-4-Fount03-copy.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"400\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"http:\/\/stacy.awegallery.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/09\/Aug-wk-4-Fount03-copy.jpg 500w, http:\/\/stacy.awegallery.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/09\/Aug-wk-4-Fount03-copy-300x225.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 400px) 100vw, 400px\" \/><\/a>Nonetheless, this past week I was drawn to the sparkling spray of a particular fountain in Sausalito which dazzled in the early morning light.\u00c2\u00a0 Capturing the feeling of being in its sprinkling relief and restoration was my photographic challenge.<\/p>\n<p>First I have to say, there is nothing more refreshing and renewing for my soul these days than the words of former Secretary of State Madeleine Albright in an interview with the Huffington Post:\u00c2\u00a0 &#8220;But I think there are some who believe they are actually protecting women, you know, and that it is better for women to be taken care of. I think women want to take care of themselves, and I think having a voice in how that is done is very important. And frankly, I don\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t understand &#8212; I mean, I&#8217;m obviously a card-carrying Democrat &#8212; but I can&#8217;t understand why any woman would want to vote for Mitt Romney, except maybe Mrs. Romney.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/stacy.awegallery.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/09\/Aug-wk-4-Fount01-web.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-482\" title=\"Aug wk 4 - Fount01 web\" src=\"http:\/\/stacy.awegallery.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/09\/Aug-wk-4-Fount01-web.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"393\" height=\"500\" srcset=\"http:\/\/stacy.awegallery.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/09\/Aug-wk-4-Fount01-web.jpg 393w, http:\/\/stacy.awegallery.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/09\/Aug-wk-4-Fount01-web-235x300.jpg 235w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 393px) 100vw, 393px\" \/><\/a>No matter what you think, photography also is political!\u00c2\u00a0 Our images convey some specific messages:\u00c2\u00a0 environmental care, hope for the poor, the spirit of the athlete, etc&#8230;. Even abstract and creative images have a message, although not always obvious or offering single points.<\/p>\n<p>Water, living water \u00e2\u20ac\u201c the right of every human being is the message of these images.\u00c2\u00a0 I chose early morning light to help convey the golden glow in each drop &#8211; since water, clean water, is more precious than gold.\u00c2\u00a0 Women in almost every country must carry the water each day, for miles, to use in cooking and bathing tasks for the whole family. May their voice be as precious and refreshing as each drop of water spilled from our fountains<\/p>\n<p>Water, living water\u00c2\u00a0 \u00e2\u20ac\u201c no matter how low I got below this fountain I could not exclude the trees and some of the buildings across the street.\u00c2\u00a0 So I chose carefully how to use them.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/stacy.awegallery.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/09\/Aug-wk-4-Fount02-web1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft  wp-image-484\" title=\"Aug wk 4 - Fount02 web\" src=\"http:\/\/stacy.awegallery.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/09\/Aug-wk-4-Fount02-web1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"450\" height=\"338\" srcset=\"http:\/\/stacy.awegallery.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/09\/Aug-wk-4-Fount02-web1.jpg 500w, http:\/\/stacy.awegallery.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/09\/Aug-wk-4-Fount02-web1-300x225.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 450px) 100vw, 450px\" \/><\/a>With the image that included the buildings I used an \u00e2\u20ac\u0153old time image\u00e2\u20ac\u009d post processing software.\u00c2\u00a0 In the other images I boosted the saturation a little (you can do this in camera or post-processing).<\/p>\n<p>But the most important ingredient was the sun and its low angle in the morning sky.\u00c2\u00a0 That also accounts for the golden look of the otherwise dull grey cement of the fountain.<\/p>\n<p>The elephant sculptures and fountain were designed by Sausalito architect William Faville for the 1915 Panama Pacific Exposition and then donated to Sausalito in 1916. The fountain is in the <a title=\"fountain\" href=\"http:\/\/www.ci.sausalito.ca.us\/Index.aspx?page=55 \" target=\"_blank\">Plaza Vi\u00c3\u00b1a del Mar<\/a>.
