is one of my photographic mantras, I did not follow my own advice.<\/p>\n<p>So Golden Gate Park\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s Conservatory of Flowers, where the low land tropics are at 80 degrees, was my chosen destination.\u00c2\u00a0 There are some wonderful orchids blooming.\u00c2\u00a0 You cannot use your tripod here so <a href=\"http:\/\/www.usa.canon.com\/cusa\/consumer\/products\/cameras\/speedlite_flash_lineup\/macro_ring_lite_mr_14ex\">a ring light flash<\/a> was my choice to obtain the <a href=\"http:\/\/stacy.awegallery.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/02\/Feb3-MossLog-web.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-56\" title=\"Feb3-MossLog web\" src=\"http:\/\/stacy.awegallery.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/02\/Feb3-MossLog-web-199x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"189\" height=\"286\" \/><\/a>desired light for capturing the beauty of the orchid&#8217;s delicate details.\u00c2\u00a0 I find the orchid centers to be most sensual.\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0 I purposefully choose to have one section where the petals part to add drama to the composition.\u00c2\u00a0 Although I prefer to carry an\u00c2\u00a0 arsenal of lenses for a DSLR (Canon) I am amazed what you can do with a small $200 Nixon CoolPix when it comes to close up images.<\/p>\n<p>My second shot is some moss growing on the end of a log.\u00c2\u00a0 Although it was bright sunlight I felt it worked for this image because the deep rotted out portions of the end of the log were in shadow causing those areas to be solid black.\u00c2\u00a0 I also tried it in defused light but chose this one.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>It has been very rainy here this past week so I must admit I was a \u00e2\u20ac\u0153fair weather photographer.\u00e2\u20ac\u009d\u00c2\u00a0 There is even the unusual snow dusting on the hills around the bay area.\u00c2\u00a0 Although, &#8220;get up and get out there&#8221;
